Debate on Reconciliation in Zagreb [gallery]

The Coalition for RECOM organized the “Debate on reconciliation in the region”, on December 1st at 11:30 in the Cinema Grič (6, Jurišićeva St., Zagreb).

After the armed conflict between 1991 and 2001 in which all the countries of the former Yugoslavia were involved, the societies in these states have not made much progress towards reconciliation. What indeed is the reconciliation process in the region? How much have the politicians from the region really contributed to the process and with what concrete actions? What is the EU role in the process of reconciliation in the region? What is institutional reconciliation and what should it look like? How much has war crimes prosecution contributed to reconciliation? How is the legacy of the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia to be used to initiate the process of reconciliation? Is the civil society capable of building a foundation for reconciliation? Does RECOM provide answers to some of the challenges in the reconciliation process, and how much potential does it have? Does the establishment of facts have a pivotal role in the process of reconciliation?
Professor Žarko Puhovski, professor Svetlana Slapšak, professor Hrvoje Klasić, and professor Josip Jurčevic were answering these questions at the roundtable debate.

During the debate, Professor Slapšak presented the Proceedings of the Forum for Transitional Justice, an annual event organized by the Coalition for RECOM.
