RECOM is a regional network of memory activists promoting an official truth commission to be established through a joint effort by the post-Yugoslav states. The idea has been to reconcile the documentation of war victims so that individual victim numbers were no longer set off against each other but added together. After a huge mobilization among memory activists between 2006 and 2011, declarative political support was triggered too. But the political realization of a regional truth commission so far has never materialized. The panel discussion explores the question: What can we learn from RECOM about memory, society and politics 30 years after Yugoslavia?
